Ingredients and Method

Method

  1. Place a pan or kadai on the flame and heat. Heat white sesame seeds on a low flame.
  2. Roast the seeds till they start popping and changing color.
  3. Remove the seeds before they turn brown. Set the roasted sesame seeds aside on a plate.
  4. Next dry roast the peanuts on a low flame. Stir the peanuts occasionally till they become crunchy.
  5. Add the heated, roasted peanuts to a mortar-pestle and allow them to cool for a while.
  6. For the next step roast the desiccated coconut and stir continuously till it becomes golden.
  7. Once you get the golden color turn off the heat and remove the coconut on a plate.
  8. Crush the cooled down peanuts and mix all the three together. Add Cardamom powder to the mixture and set aside.
  9. Now take the powdered or grated jaggery and add water on a low flame. Keep stirring the mixture till the jaggery dissolves.
  10. The solution will first boil and then form a soft mushy ball like structure. Dry roast sesame seeds, desiccated coconut, peanuts and cardamom powder.
  11. Mix the dry roasted sesame seed mixture with the jaggery ball. Mix thoroughly.
  12. Apply some oil on our palms and form laddus in your hand.
  13. Ready To Serve: Set aside to cool off and serve to your guests on Makar Sankranti
